Diagnost-X is a team of around 30 students, from various subjects and universities in Berlin, working together to develop a cheap, reliable diagnostic tool for taeniasis and the tapeworm that causes it: T. Solium. Over four billion people worldwide live in affected countries, but a diagnosis is currently prohibitively expensive for the poor population it affects. Diagnost-x is developing such a tool and will present it at the international synthetic biology competition, iGEM, in late 2017.
